Dear Birthmother,

First and foremost, we want to say thank you. Without the selflessness and bravery of a mother, we cannot experience what it will be like to raise a child. We understand this decision does not come easily for you, but if you bless us by choosing us, we will surround your child with love, teaching them to be the best person they can be while sharing our love of Disney, movies, and football.

If you choose us, your child will be Meriah’s mom’s first grandchild. Meriah’s mom is already calling herself Yaya, and Patrick’s mom is Nana to her granddaughters and grandson. We look forward to watching football together on Sundays or sitting out back on the deck watching movies on the outside TV. Elinor and Willow love to play fetch with seemingly infinite energy. Patrick loves the cold and snow, so plenty of snow forts and snowmen are expected. In the summer, we’ll eat dinner on the deck and then watch as the sun sets. Shortly after, the fireflies come out, and the fields around the house come alive with thousands of fireflies waiting to be caught.

Spending time with family is always cherished, whether that’s in Delaware to hunt for Easter eggs with Meriah’s mom, hosting family cookouts, or spending time relaxing in the Thousand Islands watching the massive cargo ships go by only a few hundred feet from shore. We have longed for this opportunity to share our lives, our interests, our traditions, and our families.

About

About Us

We met through eHarmony and share a mutual love of movies, Disney and being outside with our two small dogs Elinor and Willow. In fact, Meriah contacted Patrick because of a picture she saw of him standing at a somewhat obscure location in Disney World. After our first date, we both told our parents it was the best date we had ever been on. We moved in together about a year later and married in 2015 at our own version of a fairytale Disney wedding. We traverse life together, leaning on each other in times of need, celebrating our successes, remembering where we came from, and looking forward to what the future holds.

Home

Our Home

We found our forever home and moved in three days before Christmas in 2017: a four-bedroom colonial with a beautiful view of the rolling hills and farm fields that surround the 1.5-acre property. There’s plenty of room for Elinor, our West Highland terrier, and Willow, our Scottish terrier-schnauzer mix, to run around. The home checked every box for us, including being rural and having a large basement, room for a pool someday, and an excellent school district to raise children. Whether it’s playing catch out back, kicking around a soccer ball, or playing tag or hide-and-go-seek, there’s plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. And if it’s raining, the covered deck allows us to enjoy the rain while staying dry.

Extended Family Extended Family

Our Extended Family

Patrick’s parents and his two brothers and their families are all within 30 minutes of us. Two young nieces welcomed their first cousin in 2021 with the arrival of our first nephew and a niece in 2023 . Meriah’s mother and her brother and his wife are within 90 minutes. Meriah has an aunt and uncle nearby too. Unfortunately, Meriah’s father passed away in 2021, but we feel his love every day and are sure he will be looking down on the child we welcome to our family.

We have adopted the tradition from Meriah’s family where you get to eat cake for breakfast on your birthday. Every Thanksgiving, both families come to our house to celebrate. For Christmas, we spend a week decorating our house with 70+ Christmas trees and several Lionel trains. Patrick’s family traditionally visits Hersheypark when it’s decorated with Christmas lights. We spend Christmas Eve at Meriah’s mom’s house, waking up Christmas morning with her before heading home to host Patrick’s side of the family for Christmas Day dinner.

Outside of holidays, Patrick’s family has a vacation home in the Thousand Islands in New York, where his whole family spends a week together every summer. Both families vacation at Disney regularly, with a combined 80+ visits between the two families, including joint trips.

Story

What Led Us To Adoption

Since we met, children have always been in our plans. We were unsuccessful in our attempts to have a biological child after numerous fertility treatments and a miscarriage. We have adopted children in our family, and Patrick has a friend with an adopted daughter. Adoption has always been a consideration for us, and we decided at this point in our lives, this was the right time. We have achieved so much in our lives, and the last piece is to have a little one with whom we can share our interests, our lives, and our love.
