About Us
We met and began dating in the summer of 2012. We had an instant connection. Just over a year later, we were married. We were both excited to start and grow our family. In 2014 we had our first son, Ian, and in 2018 our second son, Drew, arrived. Melanie decided to change careers and opened an in-home daycare, which she enjoys very much. Her patient, caring, loving personality shines through both in her career and at home. Justin’s outgoing, caring, supportive, task-oriented personality is a great asset in his career working at a local medical office. When we are not working, we enjoy watching baseball, spending time with our family and friends, exploring different parks, and playing with our boys.
Our Home
We love that our home has adequate space for each child to have their own room as their special place. Ian and Drew love to create with Legos, play superheroes, and build forts using a bunk bed and blankets. The fun continues in the back yard with a playground large enough to swing, slide, and climb on. Our boys like to imagine it is a pirate ship or ice cream shop. We live near a large city, which gives us access to many family attractions. Some of our favorites are the zoo, science center, magic house, and many parks to explore and play at. The smallest member of our family is our cat, Zoey. She loves being petted and enjoys getting treats.
Our Extended Family
We are grateful to have the love and support from our extended family, including our parents and siblings, who live close by. Whether it is to meet for dinner to talk about our week, going to the kids' events or the park, or celebrating holidays, we can always count on them to be there.
Justin’s sister loves to bake with the boys, especially Christmas cookies, and the boys are so excited to make delicious treats to share. We recently took a trip to Disney World with Justin’s dad, uncle, sisters, and niece. Everyone had so much fun making magical memories together. Melanie’s family really enjoys fall, so a trip to the pumpkin patch is always a must with picking the perfect pumpkins, hayrides, and the playground and bounce houses.
What Led Us To Adoption
We are excited and feel blessed by the opportunity to grow our family through adoption. After Melanie had health issues with her pregnancy, her doctor advised her of the potential health risk to her and the baby if she was pregnant again. We decided the risk was not worth it, and our hearts were pulled toward adoption.
