RACE OF CHILD INTERESTED IN ADOPTING:
Any
Dear Birthmother,
We are grateful to you for taking the time to look at our profile and consider us to be parents for your child. We acknowledge and recognize that this decision is not easy for you. Your decision reflects great strength, courage, and love for your child; doing what is best for your child is the best thing you can do for them…and for you.
We are optimistic and excited for our parenting journey. We are also nervous about if and when we will be chosen to become parents. We are trusting the process and having faith that an expectant family will entrust us to parent their child. We recognize that as we feel optimism, hope, excitement, and nervousness, you are experiencing very different feelings, such as uncertainty, grief, and loss. All feelings are valid, and there is space for all of them.
We are hopeful for what the future holds for you, your baby, and us. With this in mind, we believe openness is best for all of us, knowing that it will look different as we move into the future. We are grateful to be able to choose the family planning option that is right for us. It is an honor to be part of the family planning option that is right for you.
With love and gratitude,
Sarah and Jeremy
About Us
Hi! We’re Jeremy and Sarah! We met while working for a summer arts program at the church we currently attend. We are two independent people whose opposite personalities and interests enhance one another. We lean on our strengths to share the household chores. Jeremy loves to cook, while Sarah prefers to clean up. We support one another in our individual interests while also having shared interests. Sarah likes to run, learn the Spanish language, and engage in music and the arts. Jeremy loves sports, the outdoors, and projects. Our shared activities include camping, skiing, and biking. When doing these, Jeremy shares many of his practical skills from his Eagle Scout days with Sarah. Jeremy works as a delivery manager for a regional fitness company; Sarah works as a project manager and is a licensed social worker and public health professional.
Our Home
We live in a rambler-style home in a middle-class, multi-racial, suburban neighborhood in Minnesota. We have lived in our home for eight years and have no plans to move any time soon. We live one block away from the elementary and middle school your child would attend. The school district is a racially diverse district with over 50% of students who identify as Black, Somali, and Latino. Our community has a lot of nearby parks and playgrounds within walkable distance from our home. There are wooded walking trails that follow along the rivers, which is always beautiful for experiencing nature. We have an eight-year-old yellow Labrador retriever, Monte. He loves playing fetch and playing with the neighborhood kids.
Our Extended Family
Sarah’s parents are nearing retirement age and live in rural Minnesota, approximately 1.5 hours from our home. Sarah is the oldest child of five kids; she has three sisters and one brother. Sarah has an aunt and uncle with five younger cousins on her mom’s side and nine aunts and uncles with over 40 cousins on her dad’s side of the family.
Jeremy’s mom has been retired for several years and lives about five miles from our home. Jeremy’s dad unexpectedly died about five years ago. Jeremy is the youngest child of four kids; he has three older brothers. Jeremy has 11 aunts and uncles with several cousins on his mom’s side and four aunts with several cousins on his dad’s side of the family.
We enjoy visiting our family who live in other states and generally stay connected with them in a busy world. We typically celebrate Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with our family who live locally.
What Led Us To Adoption
We are choosing adoption because we want to experience the love and joy of parenting and raising a child in this world. We have had challenges with getting pregnant and having biological children. We were presented with the option of IVF, which is too physically invasive, with low rates of success. We believe in a woman’s right to choose the reproductive journey that is right for her, and adoption is the choice for us as we chose to not do IVF to grow our family. We have numerous family and friends who have either adopted children to grow their family or been adopted themselves.
