RACE OF CHILD INTERESTED IN ADOPTING:
Caucasian/African American, African American, African American/Hispanic
Dear Birthmother,
You are appreciated, loved, and one of the strongest people we may have the honor to meet. A child does not choose their parents. It takes a loving, strong mother to do what’s best for her child. Although we don’t know what led you to consider this decision, we care about you and your journey throughout the adoption process and beyond. To love someone so much that you provide them with a family who will love them unconditionally, raise them like your own, and ensure that they have every opportunity to fulfill their dreams is the greatest gift a parent can give to their child.
As future parents, we commit to incorporating the lessons learned from our upbringings. We know you have been purposeful in considering what is best for your child and what is best for you at this time in your life. Please know we have been purposeful in deciding that we have the desire, capacity, and excitement to grow our family in a way we could not do if it weren’t for you. Your journey will be forever intertwined in your child’s life, and we take seriously the responsibility of loving them and raising them with great pride.
Imagine a home filled with love, light, and laughter—all created because of your unselfish decision to bring life into this world. Thank you for considering us as part of your journey. We look forward to meeting you.
About Us
Our love story began when we first met at a pre-law school prep program in Washington, DC. Chris, a former child actor from Houston and San Diego, found his calling in serving his country, first in the U.S. Air Force and later within Congress and the U.S. State Department. Meanwhile, Neil was raised in rural Wisconsin and pursued his dream of becoming an attorney while working steadily at the same company since college. Neil’s infectious spirit brings joy to any gathering, while Chris’s grounded and organized approach keeps everything running smoothly. Despite our diverse backgrounds and upbringings, we were drawn to each other’s ambitions, hopes, and dreams. We both serve as in-house attorneys at a Fortune 50 company. We love the intellectual challenge of creating a better society. Beyond our careers, we enjoy working out, traveling, and filling our home with music, laughter, and love.
Our Home
We are blessed to have found the home of our dreams! We have a five-bedroom, five-bathroom, all-brick house in a small suburb known as a great place to live. We have a beautiful view of a golf course and many flower beds and hedges that attract all kinds of birds. The neighborhood is safe, with kind neighbors. The community HOA plans many family-friendly events for holidays and special occasions. Our work colleagues have become our local family. Many of our closest friends are also becoming new parents, so we’re excited at the prospect of raising our children together. The school districts are of quality with a diverse student population. We are excited to raise children in such a loving and stable community.
Our Extended Family
Our extended family is large and spread throughout Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas. Neil has two sisters, his mom is one of seven children, and his dad is one of four. While Chris grew up an only child, his mom has 15+ first cousins, making family gatherings fun. We hosted our parents for the holidays and enjoyed spoiling them as if they were our future kids. We decorated the home, played board games, and ordered personalized stockings and gifts. This is how we want to raise our children, creating special memories so they know they belong and are loved unconditionally. Our extended family will play an integral part in supporting the development of our children and will provide them with a safety net as well as different perspectives and views of the world.
Our extended family loves to travel, teach, and explore. Together, we have been to several countries, concerts, festivals, and professional sporting events; hiked the Appalachian Trail; played in a band; and taught college- and graduate-level courses. It is important to us that we expose our children to as many different activities and experiences as possible so that their only limitation will be their own imagination.
What Led Us To Adoption
For us, adoption is really a continuation of our love story. We’ve done a lot of work to reach a place where we feel settled and stable to undertake the beautiful human experience of raising a child with the one you love. Throughout our relationship, we’ve been through thick and thin. We have deep, meaningful conversations about our past, present, and future. We support each other through feelings of doubt, insecurity, and grief. We challenge each other to become better versions of ourselves today than we were yesterday. We know that love is a choice, and the more in love we fall, the more we want to share and pour ourselves into a symbol of that love.
