Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for taking your time to look at our profile. We cannot imagine the emotions you are feeling in this process, but what we confidently know is that you are absolutely brave to be considering the journey of adoption. Making such a selfless decision will place an unpayable debt on whichever family you choose. If chosen, we will fulfill our debt by always making your choice known and celebrated in our household and never take for granted the love we are able to bestow upon another child because of you.
We are a family that says yes to adventure, yes to hospitality, and yes to helping however that may look in whatever way we can. We strive to teach our children to think bigger than ourselves. We never want our kids to go a day without knowing they are loved and cherished. Our ultimate goal is to not just raise good children but raise good children who become great adults.
Thank you again for considering us. We pray every night for the health and wisdom of the mom who may choose us and will continue to pray each and every day, no matter how old your child is. No matter how involved you do or do not want to be, your sacrifice will never be forgotten in our home.
About Us
We are a couple in our early thirties who love Jesus, athletics, and physical fitness. Sam works in the oil field, and Brooke is a stay-at-home mom with our son and daughter. We met in high school and started dating days after graduating in 2011, got engaged our senior year of college, and married after graduation in 2015.
We waited to have children and spent the first 3.5 years of our marriage working out, going on once-in-a-lifetime trips, coaching sports, and strengthening our relationship with one another before being blessed with our son in 2019 and our daughter in 2022. We have not changed our passions with the welcoming of children but rather find every way to include our children as we continue to pursue them.
Our favorite family activities are hitting up local coffee shops on the weekends, supporting our kids in their sports, watching high school sports teams compete, and visiting new places to achieve our goal to visit all 50 states!
Our Home
Our quiet neighborhood is a mix of young children and retirees who embrace the chaos of all the kids. Our son is enrolled in the public school district, with his elementary school within walking distance. Our community is a mix of transplants from the oil field industry and families with multigenerational ties. The residents are supportive of students in both athletics and fine arts. Living in northwest North Dakota, we experience hot summers, freezing winters, and every type of weather in between. Our Lab, Oakley, is included in as many outdoor activities as possible. Our coonhound, Doug, is overcoming anxiety after experiencing abuse from his initial owners. Our newest addition, Gibbs, is a cuddly kitten who was abandoned but fits right into our home!
Our Extended Family
Brooke’s family consists of her mom, dad, older sister, and older brother. Both siblings are married, with her sister and her husband living in North Dakota with a step-son and two step-daughters and her brother and his wife living in Pennsylvania with two sons and one daughter. Baseball has been a huge part of the family, with her dad coaching for over 40 years. Sam’s family includes his mom, his dad, his sister and her long-term boyfriend, three nephews, and one niece, all in the same town as us. For both families, holidays are a favorite tradition, specifically Thanksgiving and Christmas. Whenever possible, we love having holiday dinners with both sides of the family at once, hosting at our house.
Our closest friends are bonds that were formed in college, with one even being an honorary “auntie” to our kids. Unfortunately, none of our college friends are in the same city as us, but that doesn’t stop constant communication. Our local friends are relationships built through church or athletics in one shape or another. We’re always running into people we know when we are out and about.
What Led Us To Adoption
Adoption is something Brooke has been interested in ever since visiting an orphanage in the Dominican Republic at 18 years old. In the dating stage, this was brought up to Sam; it was not something he had ever considered, but he was not opposed to in any way, even only being 18. While in college, we met Brooke’s best friend, our kids’ honorary “auntie,” who was adopted from India at the age of three. After receiving poor care in the prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care of our daughter, we knew it was time to pursue adoption to add to our family. We both have cousins who have adopted newborns. It has been so encouraging to receive advice from family who know exactly how we are feeling.
