Dear Birthmother,
We won’t pretend to understand what you are going through or feeling. We acknowledge how difficult all of this must be for you. However, we believe you are the hero of this story, and we are so thankful for what you are considering. We believe God has prepared our family for such a time as this to come beside you, to support you, and to show you the love and compassion you deserve.
Our hearts are bursting with joy with the thought of welcoming your child into our family. Although your baby does not know it yet, there is a wonderful life waiting ahead. Because of the decision you are making, your baby will experience love, learn, play, interact with other kids, and experience all the wonders our world has to offer.
If you choose our family, it would be the highest honor and privilege we can possibly imagine. We do not take this lightly. We cannot be in control of everything, but one thing we can promise you is that we will unconditionally love your baby with all we have and will continually show him or her the love of Christ that was first shown to us.
Overall, the most important thing we want you to know is that you are a child of God and you are loved. Regardless of what the future holds, that truth will never change.
About Us
Our family is blessed to live the most incredible life. The only thing missing is another child to join in on our adventures, love, and experiences in new locations. We enjoy outdoor activities, especially water activities like skiing, canoeing and kayaking, surfing, boat rides, and the beach. We love teaching our children sports, music, playing games, and hosting family home movie nights with homemade popcorn and snacks. Andy served his country by being an active duty United States Marine and now continues to serve his country by being a federal employee for the Marine Corps. Because of this, we are able to travel and experience new locations; to be able to show our kids the world is priceless! Allison works as a physician assistant but has scaled back to spend more time raising our children. Both of us have completed several master’s degree programs and value education for our children.
Our Home
We currently live in Okinawa, Japan, and it is an experience of a lifetime. We are learning about new cultures, our daughter is learning how to pay in yen, and the boys are learning their first Japanese words. Okinawa is full of amazing beaches, playgrounds, cultural festivals, and a world-famous aquarium. It also provides a lot of opportunities to travel around Southeast Asia. We recently moved from Virginia, where we still have our home that sits on four acres. Our kids loved to play in leaf piles, look for turtles, and take hikes to the river. It is close to the mountains, the beach, and our nation’s capital. The home that probably means the most to our family is our lake house in Missouri. This is where Allison grew up. It is a great place for the family to unplug and make lots of memories.
Our Extended Family
Allison has three siblings who are all married. She has nine nephews and one niece. There are 13 cousins total who range in age from newborn to 26 years old. Despite the age range, they are all very close and frequently FaceTime and vacation together. There is a yearly reunion for the Fourth of July at their lake house that everyone looks forward to throughout the year. We watch fireworks over the lake on the boat, jump off cliffs, ride waverunners, make homemade ice cream, grill out, and go into town for gokarts and world-famous frozen custard.
Andy has two siblings, one nephew who is four years old, and one niece who is 15 years old, both of whom were adopted. His niece enjoys high school band, theater, and track. His nephew enjoys going with his parents to Star Wars events as his dad is part of the local community service team. Andy’s parents are heavily involved and enjoy traveling to all the family events. Family gatherings revolve around watching football, grilling bbq, playing board games, and playing with the grandkids. Andy’s dad is a hospital executive and almost retired, and his mom is a homemaker.
What Led Us To Adoption
We always knew adoption would be a part of our journey together. Allison was young when she saw a family member place a child for adoption. Then, in her twenties, she spent time at an orphanage in Haiti. Finally, while living with a family just out of college, she was a part of their adoption journey and thought it was the most incredible thing. Andy was touched by adoption when his sister and brother-in-law adopted over four years ago. We saw how the birthmother was the hero of that story by giving life to a little boy. Those mothers showed tremendous courage! In January 2023 we felt God was saying now was the time for us to begin our own adoption journey.
