Caucasian/African American, African American, African American/Hispanic

Dear Birthmother,

We all walk down paths in life that are full of unexpected turns, and we understand you are facing many important and challenging decisions right now. We think you are incredibly brave and have such a big heart to consider adoption for your child. Please know you’re not alone. If you choose us, whenever you’re ready, we are here for you to talk about your life and feelings, your hopes and dreams for your child’s future, and the kind of loving, safe, and supportive home you want for them to grow up in. We hope you feel our love and appreciation for you as you take the time to read about us.

We love being parents, and our home is a welcoming place full of laughter and joy. We are committed to providing every resource for our children to become anything they want to be. Our children will always be our number one priority. They will have a great education, opportunities to play sports, exposure to art and music, a vibrant church community, lifelong friendships, a loving extended family, and new experiences traveling the world.

We are so excited to bring home another baby! We know our son will be an amazing big brother, and he’s already talking about his new sibling. Most of all, we promise to be the best parents we can possibly be, to love your child with all our hearts, and to do everything in our power to ensure they are healthy and happy.

About

About Us

We are a fun-loving, friendly, and adventurous couple who are each other’s best friend. We love being parents more than anything else in the world. Josh owns his own business that provides bar services for special events like weddings and parties. Stephanie is a pediatric occupational therapy assistant and works with children who have disabilities to develop skills for everyday life. Josh’s interests include drumming and singing, listening to podcasts, cooking, chess, exercising, and playing video games. Stephanie’s interests include creative writing, painting, home improvement projects, singing and playing guitar, theater, reading, and tap dance. We both love traveling, singing karaoke, game nights, watching standup comedy, date nights at favorite restaurants, hiking in nature, watching favorite shows like Shark Tank and Survivor together, spending time with friends and family, and making our wonderful son laugh. We often take walks or play at the park near our home as a family.

Home

Our Home

We live in a two-story house in a pleasant suburban neighborhood. Our half-acre property has plenty of space to run around or play ball, a campfire pit to make s'mores, and horses in the neighbor's yard. We are zoned for a top-rated school district that offers great opportunities for sports and community activities. Several parks and playgrounds are a short drive from our house, and the “big city” is only a half-hour away. Our pets are a sweet, striped cat who is best friends with all humans and very patient with our rambunctious little boy, and a silly, gentle Great Pyrenees/poodle mix dog who adores people and is scared of the cat.

Our Extended Family

Josh has one brother who lives in a small town in Texas with his wife and their two daughters. We visit with them about once a year and enjoy doing fun things like going to the zoo. Josh’s dad and stepmom live in a rural town in North Carolina and come to visit us two or three times a year for holidays or birthday celebrations. They always bring something special for our son, like a handmade quilt or a toy made in Grandpa’s woodshop. Josh’s aunts, uncles, and cousins all live in California and Idaho, and we try to visit them at least once a year.

Stephanie’s family all live in Tennessee. Her parents truly love being grandparents and enjoy playing with our son and sharing meals as a family. Stephanie has two older brothers. One is married with four children, and we get together when possible for holidays and family birthdays. The other brother gets together with us often for fun activities like going to the movies. Stephanie’s aunts, uncles, and cousins mostly live in East Tennessee, and she keeps up with them on social media or at the occasional large family gathering.

Story

What Led Us To Adoption

We always wanted to grow our family through adoption, and in 2018 our dream came true when we adopted our son. We connected with his birthmother several months into her pregnancy and communicated over texts in the months leading up to the birth. We were so thankful to have the opportunity to get to know her as the three of us prepared for this event that would change all of our lives. Since bringing our son home, we have continued to communicate with his birthmother and provide her with updates and photos anytime she asks for them. Our children will always be told how brave and loving their first moms are and how grateful we are to them for choosing us to be their family.
