Dear Birthmother,
Hello, how are you doing?
We want you to know how important this adoption journey is for us: know that your child will be safe, loved, and supported with so many resources, education, and a safe and loving home, should you choose us. Parenting fills us with excitement and wonder, and we know we can make a difference in your child’s life. We love each other very much and are eager to share that love. We know who we are, what we want, and where we want to go. Family is the most precious gift of life and its greatest adventure, your baby could grow with arts, outdoor activities, and travel journeys. We are excited to embark on the path of parenting!
We hope this process brings you some comfort to know us a bit – we plan to keep in contact with our adopted child’s family if they choose. We would love to speak with you and get to know you as well if that is comfortable for you. We admire your courage.
Finally, we know this will be a tender decision for you. We are deeply honored and grateful that you are considering us as adoptive parents. We will raise your child with loving care and respect, encouragement and positive values, surrounded by great friends and plentiful family. We want an open relationship that is comfortable for you. The saying “it takes a village to raise a child” fits our worldview.
Thank you for considering us, let us know how we can be a comfort to you.
Our Home
We live in a diverse big town with a cozy small-town nature. Our very large house in the hills has big trees, views of mountains on one side and the inlet on the other. Our home has many rooms, great for slumber parties and play (there’s even a secret attic!). We adore animals, our sweet dog hiking and playing ball in the big backyard, and our cuddly kitty Puck who follows us from room to room! Our neighborhood has generous families and great schools. Incredible Alaskan wildlife: moose nibble on a bush or take a nap in our yard, even lynx have come through to chase wild rabbits, all while we grow vegetables in our greenhouse and water our flower gardens. We watch the horse across the street, cuddling our furry family on the couch.
Our Extended Family
Alex is one of 11 siblings. So, your child will grow up with dozens of cousins! He was raised with solid family values and country-living on a 20-acre homestead in Alaskan forest. His family is very close, and being a daytrip apart at most, we all visit each other often. We love his dad’s annual 4th of July BBQ, with tug of war and water balloon games for the kids. We’re excited to bring a child into his family’s year-round outdoor adventures, from summer 4-wheeling and kayaking to winter snowmobiling.
Teresa grew up, almost literally, on the stage! Being in plays was the winter and traveling to visit relatives and new places was the summer. To this day, her 4 cousins and their families, her uncle and especially her favorite aunt, are very close, and we travel for visits often. Though her parents have passed on, Teresa continues their traditions. She followed in her father’s footsteps to run a theater for their community. Her family’s traditional Christmas Eve party was not to be missed, and we continue to gather with close friends and neighbors, kids playing games and adults visiting and sharing joy. In Alaska, friends become family, and we are lucky to have a thriving community to share with a child!
