Laura & Robbie
RACE OF CHILD INTERESTED IN ADOPTING:
Any
Dear Birthmother,
In high school I, Laura, felt strongly led to adopt. It has been something so strong that while dating my now husband, Robbie, I made it clear that adoption had been placed on my heart and that if it wasn’t on his we didn’t have a future. Over the years we have prayed about when to start the adoption journey, and we felt that God was clearly telling us to wait, until now.
We are so excited to finally meet the child we have been praying for for almost 20 years. We have spoken to the kids about how God has called us as a family to search with love for this last child and they are so excited, telling everyone about how they are going to have another baby but this one is a special surprise from God. This baby is seen as pure and utter joy and blessing in all of our lives!
Although it is so exciting to start this long awaited journey, I know that it also means that you have been experiencing pain. I just want you to know you have been in our minds and hearts daily for so many years. Even in the moments when you have felt alone you have had people praying for you and loving you. We know that this exciting blessing in our life is because of your selfless love.
We can not wait to connect!
The almost complete,
Family rooted in love
Our Home
We currently live in a kid friendly neighborhood; kids are always out at the park or playing in the street. Our house is right across from the park which is up at the top of the hill; this makes riding bikes around the neighborhood harder but not impossible. Our house has 5 bedrooms, all upstairs, and a spacious backyard that we spend much of our time in. We planted a large vegetable and flower garden this year. The kids love to swing and play in the little pool all summer long. The current favorite activity is finding all the worms under rocks and making them a new dirt home.
Our Extended Family
After meeting Robbie, we were inseparable. We were best friends, told each other everything and quickly fell in love. That love has grown and changed but never wavered. Since being married in 2015 we have had 3 amazing kids. Wallace, age 4, loves trains, fire trucks and plants. Gwen, age 3, is a leader, loves making people laugh, greatly enjoys her nails being done, and is also not afraid of dirt. Walter, age 1, is happy, loves to explore and be right in the action, he wants to be doing anything the big kids are doing.
All of our extended family lives in Texas. We work very hard for the kids to know and have relationships with their grandparents and aunt/uncles. We do FaceTime, have lots of phone calls, and the grandparents visit as often as they can; typically 2-3 times a year.
While in Washington, it is important that we have friends that double as family that we can lean on when family isn’t here. We always try to make our house the gathering home for summer BBQs, splash days, Christmas cookie making, and holiday dinners. We love making these sweet friends part of our family.
