Dear Birthmother,
Dear Expectant Mother,
I’m in awe of you. You’re carrying the miracle of life. Even though you may be facing confusion or a difficult decision, clearly you care about your child. I am honored you’re considering me as an adoptive parent. My home is filled with music, creativity, good food, family, and friends. Your baby would be welcomed by a circle of loving people.
I know being a parent is not just about the highlights but also the day to day, the challenges, and the curveballs. I believe it’s about juggling lots of things, making big and little decisions every day, setting boundaries, listening, learning, adjusting, communicating, and having patience, empathy, and a steady approach.
Above all, it’s about unconditional love.
If I have the honor of parenting your baby, I would provide love, support, and guidance, while encouraging them to explore and become the person they are meant to be. I believe we all have a purpose and are all connected, and I’d be honored to help guide that purpose in your baby’s life.
About Me
Hello! My name is Monika. I’m an energetic, warm, thoughtful woman with a creative side, a dash of nerdy, and a splash of fun. Friends describe me as responsible, confident, caring, playful, and adventurous. The best times for me are spent cooking with friends and family, playing games, thinking up cool projects with my nieces and nephews, decorating for the holidays, giving presents, and laughing out loud with friends. Spending time at a lake, mountain, or our family beach house is pure heaven to me! Not one to shy away from activities, my hobbies include art, gardening, dancing (ballroom, zumba), travel, and catching an occasional ballgame. But I also enjoy time to relax and recharge. I was a Big Sister mentor for eight years and am also licensed as a foster resource, and have cared for several kiddos in my home for short periods. My education background includes studying French and graphic design in college. Today I’m a successful designer and have worked for the communication departments in education and healthcare fields. I have a flexible, part-time schedule and can work from home.
My Home
I live in a cozy, sunny ranch house on a tree-lined street. It has a front yard, a fenced back yard, flowers, and a colorful welcome mat. My neighborhood is awesome. It’s a family-oriented suburb near a safe downtown with cultural activities and sports, a biking trail that winds through historic and natural areas, parks, and top-notch public schools. It’s close to universities, only 25 minutes from Boston, and close to the countryside in the other direction. Friends live nearby, and I’m lucky to have caring neighbors, many with young kids. Our elementary school is just a few blocks away.
My Extended Family
I have three brothers, three sisters-in-law, seven nieces and nephews, several cousins, and a few aunts and uncles, whom I adore. I also keep in touch with relatives in France and Norway.
My parents live at their beach house in the summer, and that’s where we all gather as a family. Our traditions are based mostly around our time there and also the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. There’s always a lot of food, games, and stories. My father is the biggest sweetheart. Kids love him. He knows a few good magic tricks! My mother is a really good cook and was a school nurse. Everyone in our family loves to tell a good story, and my brothers never miss the chance to tell a goofy joke. As a family, we know our strengths and weaknesses, but we support each other through everything.
My own traditions include cooking and baking around the holidays. I make Norwegian almond bars or prepare a Scandinavian smorgasbord. I love to do this with my nieces and nephews. Sometimes I’ll cook a French dish, but I haven’t quite replicated my grandmother’s eggplant casserole.
What Led Me To Adoption
Since I was very young, I knew in my heart I was meant to be a parent and felt the call to adopt. I’m thankful for my strong start in life with two loving parents and lots of friends and family. It was important for me to take time to grow, learn about myself and the world, establish a career, and prepare to be a parent someday. I’m also a licensed foster parent and have provided short-term care for several kiddos, which has been an amazing experience. I believe we all have purpose and I honor that purpose in myself and the people around me. I think it’s one of the most important aspects to raising a child. I look forward to providing the constant love, support, and guidance a child needs to thrive throughout life.
