Dear Birthmother,

Dear Expectant Mother,

We cannot begin to imagine the thoughts that are running through your head. You’ve created the miracle of life, and it’s by far the best blessing in the world. You are so incredibly strong for going through the journey of pregnancy and bringing this miracle into the world. The amount of courage you have to explore the adoption journey is incomprehensible. We can’t even begin to imagine the decision process you’ve had to endure on this journey; it probably hasn’t been an easy one. We are trying to put ourselves in your shoes, and it just breaks our hearts even thinking about it. We know you are doing what is best for the baby and yourself.

We cannot begin to explain how grateful we are for this opportunity. Ovarian cancer is very prevalent in Lauren’s family, and deciding to get a complete hysterectomy was one of the most difficult decisions she’s ever had to make. We never thought in our wildest dreams that we would endure the loss of our child unexpectedly, and after having a huge surgery, it hit even harder. We want nothing more than to add one more bundle of joy to our family because we have so much more love in our hearts to give to another baby. Just know this child will be welcomed with nothing but love in our family.

Home

Our Home

We live in a very quiet neighborhood mixed with retired people and young adults our age with children who are around the age of our toddler, so there is always someone to play with. Max grew up in a house just down the street from where we live now, so we are well known in the neighborhood. We see all four seasons, so there are plenty of activities to do all throughout the year, whether it’s riding bikes, going swimming, raking leaves in the fall, building snowmen in the winter, or even puddle jumping in the spring. We have two dogs we walk while our toddler rides his bike with us and gives all the neighbors high fives.

Extended Family Extended Family

Our Extended Family

We grew up in two completely different home settings. Lauren grew up with her mother and father, and at the age of four, her parents got a divorce; her mother remarried, and she has a stepfather. She has one older sister and one younger half-sister. Her older sister has a daughter, so there are a lot of girls in her family. She comes from a very large family with aunts, uncles, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and there was never a dull moment over the holidays. Her mom loves to bake, and Christmas was always her favorite because each of the kids got to decorate a gingerbread cookie.

Max grew up with his mother and father. He has one older brother who is very close in age, so they grew up doing everything together. He grew up playing hockey and golf and would spend hours practicing hockey in the basement or riding his bike to the golf course to practice. His favorite family memories were spent on the golf course. His father passed away three years ago, and we now have a golf outing we host in his honor as our own family tradition.
