Dear Birthmother,
We realize this is the most difficult decision you are making: deciding to have someone else love and raise your child. While we don’t know exactly how that feels, we can certainly appreciate how hard this is for you. We will make this promise without any hesitation; we will love your baby as much as we love our son. They will be treated equally and loved beyond words. We can’t wait to take them to the park together or have a family dinner. We know our son really wants a sibling. He sees other children and waves, says hello, and offers up hugs.
When we realized we had fertility issues, we did not hesitate to explore adoption. We knew we wanted more than one child and feel we would be able to offer any child a strong home. We have the resilience to go through the process as we know how important a family is to us. Having seen our sister go through the process as well, we understand how emotional it can be.
We are so grateful to you for considering our family and allowing us to share our story. We are excited, scared, and hopeful but mostly ready to expand our family. We look forward to interacting soon and finding the best home for your baby.
About Us
Hello! We are Tommy and Kristin. We love to laugh, sing, and spend most days after work outside with our son. We enjoy going for a walk or playing at the park near our home. In the summer, we like to walk to the farmers market, go up north to our friend’s cabin on the lake, have friends and family over for a cookout, attend special events, or relax with a movie night. Kristin enjoys running and yoga, and Tommy enjoys weightlifting. We are both very outgoing and friendly. Kristin works in her home office for a company that assists businesses with their retirement plans for employees. Tommy manages shipping and receiving for an engineering firm.
Our Home
Our home is close to a lot of amenities. We often walk to the store, park, or friends’ houses. The elementary school is down the street, and we often pass by our neighbors as we walk around the block. We feel comfortable in our home as we have been here for almost eleven years. We have a fenced-in backyard and several trees that turn beautiful colors in the fall. We are known for our holiday outdoor decorations. We recently put the sweetest dog to rest; we had a black Lab named Lexi. We miss her very much and plan to adopt another dog someday. The unconditional love and support they provide people is so amazing.
Our Extended Family
We are very close to both of our extended families. We are lucky that most of them live within 40 minutes of each other, so we are able to see both sides of our families during holidays.
Kristin’s brother, his wife, and their three children see us often. We have dinner, play at a park, go to a special event, or visit for a few hours. Kristin’s sister and her niece often get together and go shopping, go camping, travel to different states, or, depending on the time of year, visit apple orchards or pumpkin patches. We have made personal goals to see each other at least twice a month. Kristin’s parents visit often as well. Tommy’s brother, his wife, and their five children live a few miles away. We often get together to have dinner and play dates. There’s lots of laughter when they are all together.
Some of our greatest traditions are family reunions every summer, birthday parties, shopping for Christmas, wearing matching outfits on holidays, and having Netflix with snack nights. We pull the couches together so everyone can be in the same area.
What Led Us To Adoption
We have struggled with fertility and conceived our son through a donor egg and IVF. We chose adoption to expand our family because we view any child we raise as our own, no matter how that child came into our lives. We both come from families with siblings and want that for our son. We want him to experience how wonderful siblings are. Kristin’s sister has adopted three children, and they are a perfect fit for our family. We also have friends who have adopted and have seen how happy those children are. We truly feel we have a great environment to welcome a child into our family.
