Dear Birthmother,
We have faced uncertainty, disappointment, and unexpected turns throughout our lives. Meeting each other is one of those unexpected turns. In our thirties, we were content being alone, but meeting each other was the best thing that happened to us. We love each other and genuinely find joy in each other’s presence. It was devastating when we discovered we could not have a child together, but we knew we had to keep looking forward and that path took us to adoption.
We will not pretend to know what you are feeling, but like you, we want what is best for this child. We want to kiss their first scraped knee, take pictures as they blow out their birthday candles, comfort them during their first broken heart, teach them how to change a tire, and cheer as they walk across the stage in their cap and gown. We are also open to sharing these moments with you at any level you are comfortable with.
We are honored you are taking the time to learn more about us and considering us to parent your child. Even if you do not choose us, thank you for making someone like us a momma and daddy.
About Us
We are Mir and Kelly. Our life philosophies are different but complement each other. Mir's philosophy is "Everything is going to be alright," while Kelly's is "I'll make everything all right." An example is when we first met. It was love at first sight, but while Mir debated what to say, Kelly asked him to walk her out. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Kelly is a military nurse, and Mir manages our five rental houses. We enjoy traveling, being active, and experiencing different cultures. Our greatest adventure started two years ago when we received the news that someone chose us to be their son's adoptive parents.
Levi has added unimaginable joy to an already great life. We love his curious, social, and playful personality.
Mir promised Kelly a wonderful life in his wedding vows, and we want to share our wonderful life with your child.
Our Home
This may seem cliche, but we are living the dream - our dream, at least! We live in a quiet country neighborhood on 2.5 acres of land. Our home is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains, providing a stunning view. We moved to the countryside so Kelly could have chickens, and now we have 21! We also have sheep and goats and horses, OH MY!
The neighborhood has a mix of young people with children and older grandparent types. As newcomers to farm ownership, it's incredibly helpful to have such a supportive community. Despite being far from our hometown, we feel safe and loved, thanks to the kindness and support of our neighbors. There are always people willing to lend a helping hand.
Our Extended Family
Although we are physically separated from our families, we remain very close. Mir has two sisters and two nieces that live with their mother. Mir’s nieces love him very much because he helped raise them when their father was absent. Kelly has one sister and a son who live in their hometown. We have supported each other through every easy and challenging decision and have, surprisingly, grown closer since we moved away. We make a point to speak with each other daily and make video calls every Sunday so the families can see Levi.
We are the first to admit we have sometimes taken our families for granted. But after we both lost our fathers and Kelly’s mother, we appreciate every moment we have with them. We go home as much as possible; our favorite time is the holidays. We drive our camper down and stay on our hometown’s lake for the Fourth of July. We love grilling burgers and watching the fireworks with everyone. Our families were ecstatic when we added Levi to the family and cannot wait for us to adopt another child.
What Led Us To Adoption
Our wedding anniversary is New Year's Eve, and in 2018, we decided to set our resolutions for the coming year. We said happiness, more money, and Kelly added, "A kid!" We were both surprised but knew it was what we wanted. After two failed in-vitro attempts, Kelly shared with Mir an experience she had with delivering a baby for a sweet patient who chose adoption for her child. Kelly felt it was a sacrifice for the birth mother and a wonderful gift for a family that could not have biological children. This experience only strengthened our desire to adopt. After Levi was placed with us, we knew it was meant for us to grow our family through adoption.
