RACE OF CHILD INTERESTED IN ADOPTING:

Caucasian

Dear Birthmother,

Dear Expectant Mother,

We have such a deep desire to expand our family, and we know it is only possible for us through adoption. When we went through this journey a few years ago, we had no idea the blessings that could come through adoption. We knew we would welcome a child into our home and try to be the best parents we could be for that baby. What we didn’t know is that we were also welcoming a birthmother into our hearts. As we sit here hoping to welcome another child into our home, we are also eager to welcome another birthmother into our lives.

Adoption has been such a blessing to us, and because of a loving birthmother, we’ve been able to raise our little girl. We would love Jocelyn to grow up with a sibling, and we have a lot more love to give another child. We love doing things together as a family, and it just seems like we are missing another piece to our family.

We know this decision is difficult, and we are so grateful you are considering us. We can’t imagine the weight of this decision, and we send you all the love we can while you make your choice.

With love,
Harris and Kara

About

About Us

Harris is in the military and is hard-working and loyal. He loves sports and still roots for his favorite teams even if they aren’t doing well that season. He loves cooking, football, and NASCAR, and every summer he fires up the BBQ/smoker and makes a bunch of delicious food for friends and neighbors while we watch NASCAR or football. Kara is kind-hearted and has a deep love for children. She currently works at a daycare as the lead teacher in the two year old room, but plans on staying home again with the next baby. We have a 2 year old daughter named Jocelyn, who is completely obsessed with dogs and spends most of her time at home next to one or both dogs. As a military family, we’ve lived all over the world, spending 7.5 years in Europe, 4.5 years in South Carolina, and are currently residing in Alaska.

Home

Our Home

We’ve been in Alaska for almost 2 years, we have really loved our home and community here. We live in one of the best areas in the world to see the northern lights, and we love staying up late to watch them over our house in the winter. We have two dogs that we rescued when they were five weeks old. They are from the same litter, but look completely different! Gunner is our bigger dog, and he is a shy, cuddly teddy bear. He loves to run circles around our home and play with every tennis ball he sees. Gohan is our smaller, fluffy dog, who loves to play tug of war with Jocelyn and tolerates her constant need to brush his fur.

Extended Family Extended Family

Our Extended Family

We are both the youngest in our families. Harris has two older sisters, who each have three children. Kara has two older brothers, who each have three children, and an older sister, who has four children. Every time we go to visit Harris’s family, we always have a big luncheon at Harris’s parents’ house, and Harris gets all the nieces and nephews together to play football in the yard. When we visit Kara’s family, we all gather at her mom’s house, and the kids run around with all their cousins. In both of our families, we love to get together to barbecue and just spend time together.

We also love having family come visit us. We love traveling, and when family and friends visit, we try to explore wherever we are living. We flew one of Harris’s nieces out to help us travel through 13 states as we drove from South Carolina to the Canadian border on our way to Alaska. Last summer, one of Kara’s nieces spent most of the summer with us. Family is really important to us, and even though we don’t live close to family, we make family wherever we live through our friends.

Story

What Led Us To Adoption

We have been married since 2008, and we always knew we wanted a big family. After ten years of infertility, we knew that if we couldn’t create a baby, then our family would grow through adoption. We adopted our daughter Jocelyn in 2020. She has been the light of our lives and our entire extended family and friends lives. When we adopted Jocelyn, we knew we wanted to go through the process again so she could grow up like we did, with brothers and sisters. Adoption is very special to us as we have many friends and family who have been blessed through adoption.
