RACE OF CHILD INTERESTED IN ADOPTING:
Any
Dear Birthmother,
We first and foremost want to say thank you. You could have chosen another option for this pregnancy, and we are in awe of your strength in choosing what you believe is best for your child/children. We have 6 biological children already, so I have gone through 6 pregnancies, and I know that it is not easy. We have always wanted a big family. The potential of helping a mother in need as well as her child/children has given us so much joy. When we talked to our children about adoption, they had lots of questions, one of which was why a mom would give up her baby. I told them this: "There are lots of reasons why a mother would need or want to give up her baby. The most important thing to remember is that she is doing one of the hardest things a person can do, and she is doing it with an immeasurable amount of love." My oldest (who is 9) responded, "Wow, that is some powerful love." She is 100% right. That is some powerful love. Your love is so unconditional that you are putting your child/children's well-being above all else. We are honored that you would consider us in caring for something so precious. So again, thank you for being so brave and strong, no matter what your circumstances are or how you got here.
Our Home
We live in a farming community in a small town in Idaho, which we love because everybody knows everybody. We have lots of rodeos and small town festivals that are so much fun to be a part of. We have chickens that the kids are in charge of collecting eggs from. We have a chocolate lab that is the best family dog. Her name is Oakley, and she's super laid-back, so the kids can climb all over her and she doesn't budge, but she is still protective of the kids, especially when they are outside.
Our Extended Family
Family is very important to us, and we are lucky to have lots around us. We get to visit my family in North Carolina twice a year for 3 weeks at a time on my family farm where I grew up with a younger sister and an uncle that is just 3 years older than me. When we are there, it is a continuous party of swimming in our lake, riding four wheelers, and beach trips with 12 cousins.
We have even more family on my husband's side. He is one of 11 kids. There are around 50 cousins that we get to see weekly at family dinners and get-togethers. His parents are farmers, so it is a lot of fun in the summer, all getting together and shucking corn or picking apples and making homemade apple juice for the entire family.
